A recent petition on Change.org "Get Joe Rogan to Moderate the 2020 Presidential Debate” recently blew up even though it was created several months ago. As of early Monday morning the petition had suddenly received 1,000 signatures, and by Wednesday morning it was over 115,000, aiming for a goal of 150,000 signatures.
The petition argues that since Joe Rogan has interviewed politicians on both sides of the political spectrum, including everyone from Bernie Sanders to Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, he would be the perfect voice of reason to host the debate.
Many people feel that the old-fashioned way debates are run limit any meaningful discussion as well as moderators often "playing favorites" letting one or two candidates talk over everyone else.
A quote from the petition's signature page states:
1. Joe Rogan is a widely respected host who has hosted interviews with politicians, economists, scientists, and other popular figures, who come from various walks of life.
2. Joe Rogan has experience with interviewing both progressive and conservative thinkers. Figures such as Andrew Yang (D), Tulsi Gabbard (D), Kyle Kulinski (D), Gary Johnson (L), Benjamin Shapiro (R), and Candace Owens (R), have all appeared on "The Joe Rogan Experience" program.
3. Joe Rogan has an audience containing viewers from all areas of the political spectrum. Joe Rogan is not registered under any political party and is well-known for having civil, productive, and interesting, conversations about political issues without partisan bias.
While many people are open to the idea, it doesn't come without "protest" from those who feel Rogan has had too many controversial "far -right" guests, as well as a lack of female guests on the podcast.
